For the past twenty years I have had the privilege of serving as a bivocational pastor for one of our Region churches. As I transition into the work of Southeast Area Minister I am excited about the challenges and opportunities that are before us. God is doing some exciting things in our churches and our Region, and I am glad to be a part of that.
The Southeast Area presently has 81 churches with a wide variety of ministries. Many of our churches are small membership churches with bivocational leadership. Other churches in the Area are larger, multi-staffed churches that provide a wide range of ministries to their communities. It is exciting to see how God is able to use each of our churches to touch their communities for the Lord Jesus Christ.
The one thing that each of our churches have in common is the rapid changes that are occurring in our society and in our churches. Change is never easy, but without the ability to change we will soon find ourselves trying to reach a society that no longer exists. Part of my work as your Area Minister will be to help you work through those transitions so that each of our churches will be able to effectively share the Gospel and grow the Kingdom of God.
My wife, Faye, and I look forward to meeting each person in the Southeast Area and worshipping with you in your churches. Please keep us in your prayers as we strive to serve you. |
